Sir William Walton and Lady Susana Walton were fascinated by the beauty of the volcanic isle of Ischia and created the gardens “La Mortella”, considered now the most beautiful botanical garden of Italy.

We have always worked next to Lady Walton who shared our innovative way of travelling that will allow you to get closer in touch with local’s habits, traditions and culture.

Alessandro and Emanuele Mattera of Learning Holiday by Platypus Itinerary have supported me since I first opened La Mortella to the public.

They have organized exceptional guided tours of the garden and have educated thousands of visitors on the history of the garden and my plants.

With their enthusiasm and knowledge they have delighted those people who have taken part in these tours. They have an excellent understanding of the garden and have always taken great care of my guests by arranging guided tours, trips, courses, transfer and accommodation for them.

I have encouraged them to organize authentic tours of my garden and surrounding areas and I am sure that you will share my opinion and find Platypus a very exclusive way of travelling.
