The Isle of Ischia is situated in the Tyrrhenian Sea, next to the isle of Capri. Ischia was formed with a combination of unrepeatable coincidences that originated such a peculiar island. The island is 46 squared kilometres big and has right at the centre Mt. Epomeo; the highest mountain of 789 mts. high.
Ischia is a volcanic island with hundreds of hot thermal springs where is possible to bathe; this characteristics were noticed already by the Greeks that founded on the island the oldest Greek colony of Italy. Auden felt in love with the isle of Ischia and wrote about this island a poem named Ischia. A number of other artists like Laurence Olivier, Maria Callas, Caruso, Bergsoe, Ibsen and not last Sir William Walton with his wife Lady Susana Walton.
